Teens Break Into CNN Newsroom To Check Facebook
Facebook Addiction Gone Too Far???
Some people just have to feed their Facebookaddiction, no matter what the cost.
Just ask two teens who were arrested at 3:30 a.m. Friday morning after breaking into the CNN Center inAtlanta, Ga., to check their profiles on the social networking site.
Aldayne Fearon, 18, and Francis Mutemwa, 17, allegedly climbed over a ledge from the neighboring Omni Hotel.
Once they gained access to CNN's newsroom on the fifth floor, they began working on two computers, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
"At the time of their arrest, they were checking their Facebook pages on those computers," Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones told the paper.
Police charged the pair with criminal trespassing and each was held on $500 bail, 11 Alive news reported.
The two drove to the building in Mutemwa's red Mercedes, which was later towed from the scene, reports WSB-TV.
While the reasons for the young men's break-in remain unclear, the urge to check in with one's social network is more than some young people can control.
For instance, a recent study by the Chinese Academy of Sciences showed web addicts have brain changes similar to those hooked on drugs or alcohol.
After scanning the brains of 35 men and women between the ages of 14 and 21, half who had Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD), and half who were non-addicts, the research found in the part of the brain linked to emotional processing, executive thinking skills and cognitive functioning.
CORRECTION: A previous version of the article inaccurately implied the two teenagers were internet addicts. In fact, it is not clear whether they are internet addicts, nor why they broke into the building. The error has been corrected.
